How much can I expect to pay?
Consultation Fee
Fee for a self pay initial consultation is usually £250, and will not exceed £350, and follow-up consultation fee is usually £150 and will not exceed £250.
Hand Doctor Practice consultants are fully fee assured with the main insurers (see further notes below).
Video consultations are charged at the same fees as above. Self pay patients would be to have the funds cleared before the video consultation can take place.
These fees are correct as of April 2024.
Should you cancel your appointment with less than 48 hours’ notice, a cancellation fee of up to 50% of the appointment charge OR an amount of £125 (initial consultation) and £75 (follow-up consultation) may be charged. This is NOT covered by your insurance provider and you will be billed directly for a late cancelled appointment.
Following your consultation you may need certain tests (such as blood tests or imaging, for example an X-ray, MRI or CT scan) to help the consultant diagnose your condition. If the test is undertaken by the clinic or hospital, and not by the consultant, the fees for those tests will be determined by the clinic or hospital and charged to you, or your private medical insurer, separately.
If there are any fees which the consultant will charge in relation to any of the tests they advise that you have, the consultant will let you know what those will be.
Private Medical Insurance
If you have private medical insurance, please contact your insurer before your consultation, to check the terms of your policy, particularly the level and type of outpatient cover you have, including any reimbursement limits on individual consultation fees.
The Hand Doctor Practice Consultants are recognised by most private medical insurers but this checking your level of cover is the responsibility of the patient.
Please note you are responsible for any fees not covered by your insurer.
How do I pay for my appointment?
